Hello

Hello everyone. My name's Veronica Mosley and I designed this blog to show the different sounds that I've heard from my hometown of Milwaukee,WI.

To the right of this, is my map of where I traveled from around Water St. For the next few months, I will be posting new images, sounds and everything else that's Milwaukee in a nutshell.

At the dock by Chicago and St. Paul street

September 29th at 6:05 P.M at the dock behind several bars and its starting point being Chicago St.

I started at the dock, collecting the sounds of water hitting a few boats. But, once I saw a lot of people on the upper deck, I realized that I needed to get the sound. People talking may not seem like its really interesting, but the different pitches, of human voices mixed together with some traffic and laughter makes me happy because its Milwaukee.

Milwaukee Public Market's lot

September 29th at 5:25 P.M across the street from the Milwaukee Public Market parking lot.

I heard nothing but the clicks of my left shoe. And then I heard it, the sound of a skateboard.
Let me finish before you decide on anything yet. The reason that I really enjoyed the sound of the skateboard was because the parking lot that the young lad was working in, was empty and enclosed. As a result, I could hear the echoes and it needed to go down due to the fact of the echoes, the faint sounds of people talking AND that it sounded pretty cool.

Behind the Starbucks on N. Water St.

September 29th at 5:15 P.M at the a place being renovated.

After getting the fan's noise, I walked until I noticed that there was this hissing sound that seemed to get louder. On further inspection, I noticed that it was a hose attached to a hydrant and that it was pumping water into this empty building. I noticed construction machines around it, and I just stood there and let the microphones pick up the sound.

Well, that and the cars running over the steel girder that was in the middle of the street.

September 29th at 5:00 P.M behind the building that's located on the corner of N Water St. and St. Paul.

As I was walking, I realized that everything sounded the same. You could hear my footsteps and traffic. So when I saw the deserted alley, I knew that it was A.) really quiet and B.) had a really loud fan in the back. I had to check it out and I'm glad I did.

The buzzing that you hear is actually one of the microphones being placed in the fan, while the other one was left out.

September 29th at 4:30 P.M at the Bridge on N. Water St. and by Erie St.

I've never actually listened to the bells that tell me that the bridge is opening up. I'm usually in the car, or walking and thinking of other routes to go.

I originally wasn't going to get the bells at all. When I heard it going, I first thought "Oh great. Another boat is going under the bridge." But it wasn't until I was walking near it that I heard the cars engines, the bell and the train in the background that I realized I had to get them all.
